I will always remember your "suggestions" from the soccer field sidelines as a kid and your adventures south of the border.

My sincere condolences to your family.
I met GR when I went to a job interview for a position at WESTAR. I had recently retired from the Army, in fact this was my second job interview post retirement. We talked of retiring, my experience, education, and family. I was hired as employee number 12 for the fledgling company. Late that December I came into the office and found GR and Ray Ropp together working on contracts. I asked, “What is the working policy for the Christmas holidays?” There were no written policies yet. GR and Ray just looked at one another, then GR said, “Go home; come back after New Year’s”. I asked if I got paid for the time between Christmas and the new year? Again, they looked at one another, then GR said, “Yes”.
In my experience, GR was a person who always tried to do the right thing. Everyone at WESTAR knew and appreciated him for his honesty and sense of fair play.
